中国驻休斯顿总领馆人员离开后 美方人员破门而入

美国政府21日要求72小时内中国关闭驻德州休士顿总领事馆，尽管中国驻休士顿总领事蔡伟拒绝闭馆，但仍在当地时间24日下午4时限期届满时，总领事馆关闭、撤离人员，并降下中国国旗、卸下中国国徽。

综合媒体报导，在限期届满前夕，美国执法人员在总领事馆外拉起封锁线，中国驻休士顿人员赶紧在限期内将馆内清空，用卡车运走，甚至连垃圾桶都带走。

《路透》报导，限期在当地时间24日下午4点生效不久，一群疑似美国官员的人强行将总领馆的后门打开进入搜查，并将另一侧的门锁上。

休士顿当地媒体报导，据了解这些人是美国国务院的联邦官员，他们连续3次破门失败后，强行使用电动工具打开后门。

    据“今日俄罗斯”报道，在当地时间24日下午5点前，多名美国执法人员使用破门工具，进入了中国驻休斯敦总领馆此前办公的建筑内。据报道，这些执法人员中有2人自称来自美国国务院外交安全局。
    另据路透社报道，在我驻休斯敦总领馆工作人员集合撤离期间，有约100人在总领馆建筑外挥舞旗帜，并对我方工作人员使用攻击性语言，但报道未披露这些抗议者的身份。

US officials raided the Chinese consulate in Houston "used as Beijing espionage base to steal medical research."

A group of men who appeared to be American officials were seen forcing open a back door of the Chinese consulate in Houston just hours after a US government closure order for the mission took effect.

The men did not respond when asked who they were by reporters. Earlier, the same group of men was seen padlocking a door on another side of the building.

After the men went inside, two uniformed members of the US State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security arrived to guard the door.

The Chinese embassy in Washington and the US State Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment on this activity.

According to a Reuters witness, consulate staff had exited the building shortly after 4pm and left in vehicles before the back door was forced open.

On Friday, China ordered the US to close the consulate.

It comes after the US ordered China to shutdown one of its offices in Houston amid ongoing rows over trade, spying, the coronavirus pandemic, and the South China Sea.

Donald Trump’s administration this week ordered the closure of the Chinese consulate within 72 hours after it accused agents of trying to steal medical research in Texas.

Chinese authorities have however called on Washington to reverse its decision as it said the closure of the diplomatic office was "breaking down the friendship bridge."

In response, China has now ordered the closure of the US consulate in Chengdu – also within 72 hours.

The US has an embassy in Beijing and consulates in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenyang, Wuhan and Hong Kong.
